The upcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is on the way. The Japanese manufacturer teased this pickup truck recently, although we don’t know when it will debut. The Trailhunter is a new trim level, and the first teaser images are showing unique headlights, grille, rear bumper, and more.
As its name suggests, this version is an off-road model, and it will naturally introduce lots of off-road gear. On the other hand, we don’t know what will be the biggest difference between Trailhunter and TRD Pro variants. Anyway, here’s everything we know about this new model so far.
Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter – What Is It?
In a short press release, the Japanese automaker said the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is exactly what its name describes. If you are looking for hunting some trails, this trim level is the way to go. On top of that, the Tundra truck should gain the same trim level in the following months.
The idea is to deliver robust mid-size trucks with impressive off-road capabilities. Probably, Toyota plans to use the Trailhunter model, just as Ford uses the Tremor package. Toyota’s lineup of TRD trim levels will be on offer, so we don’t know the exact difference between them and Tacoma Trailhunter.
Exterior Features
As we said, Toyota rereleased teaser images of the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter. Of course, the automaker didn’t reveal the complete exterior design, only some parts of it. This new trim level shows distinctive headlights, and it seems like the upgraded grille is also on the way. It is hard to spot which upgrade is regular for the next-gen Tacoma, and which one comes with the Trailhunter trim level.
The rear section comes with recognizable tow hooks. However, the easiest way to spot the Trailhunter model is the badge on the tailgate. The badge is in the form of a compass, as you can see in the teaser image. Many experts believe the Trailhunter variant will bring trim-specific suspension, additional underbody skid plates, off-road lamps, and the roof rack.
Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter will be a good performer, no doubt about it. However, no one knows which engine will power this off-road trim level. Recently, Toyota confirmed that the TRD Pro trim level will have a hybrid powertrain. It is a familiar i-Force Max hybrid setup. The idea is to provide additional power and improve fuel efficiency at the same time.
On the other hand, Trailhunter could arrive with a traditional turbo-four gas engine. Both outcomes are possible right now. A 4×4 system is another possibility, most likely as a standard part of the equipment. Still, Toyota remains silent, so we’ll have to wait another few weeks or even months.
2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter Price and Release Date
The base mid-size Tacoma truck starts at around $27,500 and the next model will cost even more, as big upgrades are on the way. On top of that, the range-topping Tacoma TRD Pro will cost at least $47,000. We don’t know yet where the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter will slot, but a price of around $35,000 is reasonable. This brand-new trim level will hit the dealerships later this summer.
