For the first time this year, the new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD has been spotted testing. In case you didn’t know, the current generation had a redesign two years ago, and sales are better since then. The upcoming model appears to be bolder, as evidenced by the initial spy pictures, and it appears that it will receive changes at the front and rear.
For a start, the spy photos are showing new Silverado HD prototypes being towed by trailers. Naturally, it appears that Chevy is testing the new truck’s towing capabilities. While we are waiting for more official details, here’s what we know at the moment.
Chevrolet Silverado HD Spy Shots
The first spy photos of the next 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD are here, and we must say, the new truck looks upgraded. The Silverado HD has been photographed testing while wearing front and rear fascia covers. It appears that the new model will include redesigned headlights.
Furthermore, the front grille appears to be broader, and a horizontal bar appears to be considerably wider. In the back, there are few noticeable changes, and it seems like the taillights will gain some updates as well.
Interior Changes
The cabin of the new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD will remain modern and comfy. This heavy-duty truck comes with a wide range of interior options and technologies. Because of its longer wheelbase and enhanced passenger room, the crew cab is the most popular buying option. On top of that, the Silverado’s cabin comes with a long list of standard features. It still can’t match RAM HD models, but it’s getting close.
Every Silverado HD includes an 8-inch touchscreen with an updated infotainment system. As before, this model will offer various phone integrations, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Bose sound system. Optionally, Silverado HD provides a Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless charging. We expect mild interior upgrades and additional safety systems.
More Torque for Diesel Engine
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD will gain even better performances. The most recent reports are saying that the diesel engine will get a slight boost. At the moment, this 6.6-liter engine produces 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. That’s still not enough, as rivals from Ram and Ford are offering more torque. Now, Chevy will give that boost, so the diesel engine will produce 500 horsepower and a torque of over 1,000 lb-ft.
Moreover, it is the first diesel engine in the heavy-duty segment to produce 500 horses. A 10-speed Allison automatic transmission will remain. Still, expect the Silverado HD will offer higher towing capacity than the current 36,000 pounds. The gasoline 6.6-liter V8 remains the standard engine option, developing up to 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it can tow around 17,400 pounds.
2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD Price, Release Date
The price of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD will start at around $40,500. Furthermore, the price of the range-topping High Country trim level will start at $68,500. The sales will begin this fall, and we are waiting for more official details.
