2023 Subaru Pickup Truck Could Include Wilderness Trim Level

The forthcoming 2023 Subaru Pickup Truck is more probable than ever before. Indeed, the Japanese brand lacks versatility, and a pickup truck is a must. Numerous reports are already written about this new model. In reality, we don’t have any official information as of yet. One thing is certain, the famous Baja variant will not reach production.

This new model will be a regular pickup truck. However, Subaru introduced the Wilderness trim level. It is an off-road-oriented version, so this could be the best solution for this new pickup. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know.

Subaru Pickup Truck Engines

For a start, this new model won’t offer any sort of mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains. Of course, an all-electric model is also not happening. Instead, the new 2023 Subaru Pickup Truck will deploy traditional combustion engines. From what we know, a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer engine should come as standard. This unit is capable of producing 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, the return of the 3.6-liter Boxer engine could happen as well.

Some reports are even suggesting this unit, but with a turbocharger. If this is true, the new Subaru Pickup Truck will surely develop over 300 horsepower. This also means the arriving model would be able to tow 6,500 pounds or even more. As for the gearbox, CVT is not an option. Subaru will stick to a traditional 6-speed manual and possibly 6-speed automatic transmission as an option. Normally, the AWD system will be offered as a standard.

Trim Levels

We don’t know how many trim levels will be on offer. However, the 2023 Subaru Pickup Truck will surely introduce base trim and the Wilderness trim. The standard model will be more regular, probably using mentioned 2.4-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine. The interior will provide cloth upholstery, a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, and similar basic stuff. However, the Wilderness trim level should be something completely different. This version is focused on off-roading.

The interior will be more premium, but we don’t expect any real luxury. On the other hand, the exterior will be more aggressive and unique. This model will provide around 9.5 inches of additional ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and new exterior paints. Moreover, 17-inch gloss black wheels will come as standard. The bodywork is more aggressive and the Wilderness variant will have a very athletic appearance.

2023 Subaru Pickup Truck Launch Date, Price

In order to compete with models such as Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier, the new 2023 Subaru Pickup Truck will have to be more affordable than those rivals. Thanks to that, the price will most likely start at $30,000 or slightly below that. On the other hand, the Wilderness trim level would cost over $35,000. A fully-loaded variant should be available for $40,000.

We are waiting to hear more details. However, this new truck will most likely share the platform with the Subaru Ascent SUV. We expect a couple of trim levels, including base Premium trim, Limited, Sport, and Wilderness.
