The forthcoming 2023 Ram 3500 is coming to the market with additional changes. Of course, the Allison transmission is the highlight of the 2023MY. Besides that, we expect to see a vast array of improvements, including refreshed styling and more technology features inside the cabin.
We don’t expect major improvements in terms of performance. Of course, the Allison gearbox will improve the ride quality, but nothing will change in terms of power. Ram will launch its HD lineup in the second half of 2022, and here’s everything you need to know.
Ram 3500 Specs
Except for the new transmission, the upcoming 2023 Ram 3500 is expected to remain unchanged. This covers the engine options, which include three different powertrains. The entry-level model will retain the trusty 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces approximately 410 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. It is connected to an outstanding ZF eight-speed transmission.
There are two options available to folks who favor diesel engines yet require more capability. The engine in both cases is a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel. The base model produces approximately 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful type, on the other hand, is capable of 400 horsepower and 1.075 lb-ft of twists. As a result, the Ram 3500 has a towing capacity of 37,500 pounds. A new Allison transmission, as previously announced, will be available.

Interior Details
Additionally, cabin upgrades are minor. The 2023 Ram 3500 will maintain its class-leading interior quality, combining modern design with premium materials. When compared to competitors, it appears to have a superior dashboard, particularly on the entry-level Tradesman trim level.
Naturally, the higher trim levels supply far more. There, you’ll find high-quality materials and a host of unique features. This features the option of a 12.0-inch touchscreen. As was the case with previous models, the Ram 3500 will be offered in a number of cab configurations, special editions, and optional packages.

A Redesign is Not on the Cards
The all-new 2023 Ram 3500 is getting some sort of mild facelift. Like the subtitle suggests, the redesign won’t happen yet, despite the latest rumors. The exterior design is still fresh, so there’s no need for a significant makeover. However, it is a very modern style, based on the Ram 1500 model. It is a nice combination of aggressive bodywork and modern design. The air suspension provides better ride quality and Ram also offers some other convenient features. Moreover, we expect to see new exterior paint and possibly new optional wheels. Besides that, everything should remain intact.

2023 Ram 3500 Price and Release Date
The approaching 2023 Ram 3500 will cost around $35,500. On the other hand, the diesel variant will cost over $40k. Ram will launch its new heavy-duty lineup of trucks in the second half of 2022. This means more details will emerge in the coming weeks or months.
ZF has invested two hundred million dollars upgrading their existing US transmission plant. ZF has had an existing medium-duty eight-speed transmission in European use for several years. It makes sense to use an eight-speed transmission for the Cummins in a RAM, as the Cummins torque curve doesn’t need more than two overdrive ratios. Those ten speed units in Ford and GM trucks have not proven useful (too many overdrive ratios) or reliable (service life shorter than anticipated).
