The spy photos of the new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 are here. The current generation is on sale for eight years. Now, the manufacturer will provide significant upgrades to models such as Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. Canyon is a premium mid-size pickup truck with so much to offer. The first spy shots are available and some of the upgrades are very exciting.
On the other hand, nothing will change under the hood. The AT4 trim level is a popular option nowadays, but GMC will introduce a new AT4X version as well. As you can see, upgrades are happening, so here’s everything you need to know.

2023 Canyon AT4 Spy Shots
The spy images show a prototype 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 parked someplace in Colorado. This is the first time the next generation of a mid-size pickup has been shown in public. As you can see, GM does not want people getting a good look. Apart from the extensive camouflage covering the entirety of the truck, a hastily constructed cover was put over the test vehicle.
Although the covers conceal body lines, it’s evident that the mid-size Canyon will remain relatively unchanged. Although the grille features are covered, the proportions hint this is wearing the GMC Canyon’s wider face. Additionally, the hefty fenders and low suspension height indicate that this is an AT4 model. The photographer did get up close and personal with the tires, revealing a set of 265/65 Goodyear Wranglers mounted on 18-inch wheels. The tires are not as aggressive as those on the current AT4, although that is expected to change before the production starts.

Interior Updates
So far, the interior of the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 is a mystery. These photographs didn’t provide any of the cabin details. If the newly introduced Chevrolet Silverado is any indication, both the Colorado and Canyon will have larger infotainment screens.
Canyon will not take the minimalist approach taken by certain vehicles, which means there will still be a plethora of buttons and knobs for operating various aspects. In terms of technology, Super Cruise is unlikely to reach the mid-size fleet, but anything is possible nowadays.

New Turbocharged Engine
In terms of powertrain options, GM is likely to follow Ford’s lead and provide only a single four-cylinder powertrain option. The top candidate is General Motors’ 2.7-liter turbocharged engine, which produces up to 310 horsepower. This engine comfortably outperforms rivals from Ford. From what we know, the diesel option won’t be on offer.
Unlike the regular Canyon, AT4 is an off-road-oriented trim level. It provides numerous off-road equipment, additional ground clearance, unique tires, and various mechanical updates. As we said, the brand-new AT4X version will slot above the AT4, providing even more features.
2023 GMC Canyon Release Date, Price
The price of the next-gen Canyon will start at around $27,500. This means the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 will surely cost $38,500 or somewhere in that range. The sales will begin next summer and we expect to hear more details about the next-gen pickup in the coming months.
