2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2: New Details Leaked

The forthcoming 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is about to get a couple of important upgrades. First details are already available. However, we don’t know yet if the pickup truck will arrive as ZR2 or ZRX version. After Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX, GM is also ready to introduce a high-performance off-road full-size truck.

Various reports are reporting about the inside scoop that claims the new Silverado ZR2 will get additional mechanical upgrades. While it isn’t official, this information lines up with previous speculations about the new suspension. Anyway, new Silverado ZR2 will get a lot of upgrades and here’s what to expect.

2023 Silverado ZR2 Changes

The upcoming 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 will introduce various upgrades under the skin. According to the latest stories, the truck will arrive with new Multimatic DSSV dampers and higher ride height. GM will offer locking differentials, both front and rear. The ZR2-specific front and rear bumpers are offering better departure and approach angles. Besides that, an off-road pickup truck will get new skid plates and more aggressive off-road tires.

Interestingly, but we saw this model, and it was revealed as a Chad Hall racing truck. The only difference is the architecture. In terms of design, Silverado ZR2 won’t offer anything brand-new or innovative. The styling will remain as aggressive as before, in combination with various modern exterior features.

Engine Specs

This is an interesting category because of the latest speculations. According to new rumors, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 will get a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. Moreover, various reports are suggesting that the supercharged powertrain is a direct answer to Ram’s 702 hp and Ford’s 760 hp engines. However, the reality is different.

The Silverado ZR2 truck will use the same 6.2-liter V8 that is available now. It can produce 420 horsepower, and that is way below Ram Rebel TRX and Ford’s Shelby GT500 powertrain options. Moreover, powerful V8 generates 460 lb-ft of torque. That means the Silverado ZR2 variant won’t be as competitive as some of the reports are predicting.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Price and Release Date

While its performance is behind its fierce rivals, new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is still one fantastic truck. General Motors opted for improving the off-road capability and ride comfort. Thanks to the mechanical upgrades, ZR2 variant will surely represent a strong option in the high-performance full-size segment. Its price will start at around $65,000. To compare, the base Silverado model starts at $33,000.

The Ford F-150 Raptor delivers slightly more power, and new Raptor could gain even more powerful engine. We don’t need to talk about Ram Rebel TRX and its 702HP powertrain option. Still, both models will cost less than the arriving ZR2 variant. However, GM will provide better mechanics and better interior design. As for the launch date, Chevrolet will offer new Silverado in the second half of 2022. Lastly, new 2021 Silverado ZR2 could be called “ZRX” once it arrives.
