The upcoming 2022 Toyota Hilux Hybrid will go on sale next year. The iconic pickup truck will finally get an electrified version. It is a mild-hybrid variant that will firstly arrive in Australia and New Zeeland. The sales should start by the end of 2021, most likely in August.
Besides electrification, Hilux pickup will get some significant visual updates. Moreover, the interior will gain important upgrades, especially in terms of technology. Of course, the price will slightly increase, but Hilux will finally get a much-needed refreshment.
2022 Hilux Hybrid Redesign
The all-new 2022 Toyota Hilux Hybrid will get the same upgrades as the gasoline-powered variant. There will be no difference in terms of design at all. For a start, the Japanese carmaker will provide various changes, including lighter architecture and heavier use of aluminum. Both sides will get an LED lighting system as standard, and new wheels are also available.
Truck’s shape won’t change, but the new Hilux will look more modern and more athletic. The front fascia hosts new grille and reshaped headlights. The rear part will get new taillights and possibly a redesigned bumper. We should also expect more standard equipment, and there will be three different cab configurations. That includes a single cab, extra cab, and double cab setups.
On the inside, the new 2022 Toyota Hilux Hybrid will get a lot of updates. While the interior layout won’t change, cabin design looks more modern and premium. Toyota will introduce new upholstery and additional chrome materials. For the first time, Hilux truck will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems.
Furthermore, the Hilux model will arrive with a digital instrument cluster, a new infotainment system, and the latest driver-assistance aids. Thanks to the latest updates, Hilux will finally get an SUV-like interior that will become one of the most competitive interiors in the segment.
The forthcoming 2022 Toyota Hilux Hybrid is in the works. This pickup truck will finally get some sort of electrification. According to the latest reports, it will be a mild-hybrid variant. However, we still don’t know if Toyota will opt for a diesel or gasoline engine. At this moment, a 2.8-liter turbodiesel is available. This powertrain option is more likely to get electrification than the gasoline unit.
Simply, diesel provides more power, 175 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. Adding an electric motor will surely boost the performance, so we should expect over 200 horses and 350 lb-ft of twists. More importantly, Hilux Hybrid will get significant improvement in terms of fuel efficiency.
2022 Toyota Hilux Hybrid Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2022 Toyota Hilux Hybrid will start at above $35,000. Right now, you can get the current Hilux with a gasoline engine for about $27,000. The Hilux truck will firstly go on sale in Australia and New Zeeland.
It will join other Toyota’s hybrids, including Yaris, Corolla, Camry, and C-HR. The sales will begin later in 2021. The latest reports are predicting August 2021 as the most likely release date.
