The all-new 2022 Mercedes-Benz X-Class is reportedly in the works. This luxury pickup truck should go on sale at some point next year. In the past, we read a lot of rumors regarding the X-Class pickup truck. Now, the most reliable reports are saying the Mercedes started with the production. As you probably know, Mercedes firstly unveiled the X-Class Concept in 2018. Shortly after that, this model was on the markets, but not for so long as the manufacturer discounted it in 2020 due to low sales.
The German automaker says it is “the first true premium pickup truck” and now the production continues. This time, the X-Class model will be longer by a few inches and it will ride on a modified architecture. Of course, this truck will introduce a redesign and the sales will begin in 2022.
2022 X-Class Redesign
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz X-Class will keep some things intact. Thanks to that, some styling cues and exterior features won’t depart from the previous model. However, the new-gen model should provide significant updates. Design language remains, but new X-Class comes with sharper lines and revised front fascia.
The pickup truck will host brand-new slimmer LED headlights and a larger front grille. As we already said, the platform is modified, so new X-Class pickup will be slightly larger than its predecessor. Some cues are borrowed from the new GLA SUV, which includes improved taillights graphics, exterior paints, and much more.
The interior of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz X-Class will look more modern than before. Again, we don’t expect to see new things, as most of the features are borrowed from the brand’s new SUVs. Anyway, Mercedes will deliver a very premium cabin design with plenty of luxury. Moreover, the interior will be very comfortable and spacious. The best part of it is the list of standard features, as the X-Class will offer a lot of high-tech features.
Still, we don’t know how the dashboard will look like and which touchscreen options will be on offer. On top of that, the previous X-Class generation was available in three trim levels. New X-Class model will offer at least four. An SUV-like interior will be especially luxurious in the range-topping variants.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz X-Class should offer great performances. However, we can’t confirm the engine lineup. Some reports are suggesting the same powertrain options that the previous generation was offering. That includes 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.
The gasoline unit is capable of producing 164 horsepower and the turbodiesel engine developed 187 hp. Another likely outcome is the same V6 engine that powers the Nissan Navara. Thanks to that, the X-Class will produce 255 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. Still, Mercedes is yet to make it official, so we hope to see new powertrains.
