2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck release date

2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Confirmed!

The upcoming 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck is happening. According to the latest reports, the manufacturer is working on a pickup truck variant. Originally, Defender was a pickup truck and now Land Rover plans to create a whole Defender family. New head of the “Defender” project gave some encouraging words about the new pickup truck.

Reliable sources are already suggesting a four-door lifestyle pickup truck with a shorter bed. The focus is on adventurous performances and premium design. Because of that, we don’t expect great cargo capacity or a class-leading towing capacity. The pickup version will arrive at some point next year.

What Can We Expect?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will become the fourth member of the family. Land Rover offers both two-door and four-door SUV variants with two wheelbases and three different lengths. Basically, Defender comes in 90, 110, and 130 variants. The pickup truck is the only thing missing here, and the manufacturer did say that the pickup model is a possibility.

Of course, no details are available yet. However, we can expect a luxury truck with a potent engine and premium interior design. As we said, the focus is on the model’s adventurous character, high level of comfort, and attractive exterior design. The performances will be good, but don’t expect class-leading figures.

2022 Defender Pickup Truck Will Offer a Lot of Luxury

We already wrote that the 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will come in two-door and four-door body styles. On top of that, this model will arrive with a very premium and modern exterior design. The cargo bed won’t be large, but we can’t predict how much space will it offer. First renderings are already available. The Defender pickup will be a true lifestyle truck, riding on the same platform as the 110 SUV.

However, a pickup truck will be slightly longer. We expect to see various wheelbases and plenty of unique stuff. Generally, the four-door model is certain to happen, but we would be surprised if the Land Rover ignores a two-door variant. It is too early to speculate, but Defender pickup will surely offer a lot of luxury, especially inside the cabin.

Powerful V8 is a Must

This is another mystery, but the 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will surely feature a potent V8 engine. Of course, electrification is the most logical outcome, but the V8 engine is a must. On the other hand, even a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 237 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque is a solid choice. Another possible outcome for this model is a 2.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 286 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Still, mentioned V8 should be an optional powertrain that generates even more power. The diesel engine could happen too, but only for the markets outside the United States. Land Rover will upgrade the air suspension and much more. It will be interesting to see if the manufacturer will opt for an eight-speed or nine-speed automatic transmission.

2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Launch Date

The forthcoming 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will surely cost above $50,000. This model will ride on a unibody platform, but its arrival in the United States is still uncertain.

The main reason is that the Defender Pickup will be produced in Europe, so “Chicken Tax” is the biggest problem here. Land Rover confirmed the expansion of the Defender family, and the pickup truck variant should go on sale at some point next year.

  1. What No PU! FYI single or double cab does not matter, to work a PU needs to be pratical, that means a 8 foot box by 4 foot between wheel wells to carry building material and 1 ton type capacity woth full floater rear.. Short and micro boxes are just useless, for intended purpose of real PU……a modern V-8 just about as useless.. too much gas too much power for a PU. MY old 75 PU Dodge /Fargo 318 cu inch only has 175hp and it hauls anything. A 200 to 300hp is plenty WE don’t need dumb, WE need a pratical 1 Ton with low hp and 6 to 7 speed for hauling and economy the two litre 4 banger with a turbo would be good.
