This mid-size pickup truck will offer various configurations, depending on the market. The next-gen Ranger will also come to Australia, as always before.
Plenty of stuff is almost the same as in the Ford Everest SUV that is available in Australia as well. A new hybrid powertrain is a highlight of the 2022 Ranger. Most likely, Ford will build a new hybrid system around 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.
2022 Ranger PHEV Redesign
New 2022 Ford Ranger PHEV had been spied months ago. According to the latest photos, the mid-size pickup will gain plenty of changes. The front fascia hosts two chrome bars that are bigger than before. Rectangular grille remains, which is a good thing. Overall, the front part looks closer to the F-150 and its front fascia. The C-shaped headlights are looking upright, and the fog lights are finished in a square shape.
The hood comes with a more aggressive approach, and the chrome bumper looks impressive. The same front bumper hosts two vertical elements that are also enlarged. Ranger will continue to look blocky, but the styling is more modern. The fender flares are boxier too. In the back, the tailgate wears bigger RANGER letterings, and the emblem sits higher up.
Ranger Gets Better Interior Design
The cabin of the new 2022 Ford Ranger PHEV will look closer to the Ford Everest SUV. However, Ranger’s interior will slightly depart. The mid-size pickup will feature a new SYNC4 infotainment system. Moreover, Ranger will host the same touchscreen as the F-150 pickup truck. It is a 12.8-inch unit with a tablet-like character.
Generally, the media center is exceptionally modern, and it comes with another 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The 2022 Ranger PHEV will offer new upholstery, new shape of the air vents and more driver-assistance features. As before, Super Crew Cab is available, and it provides a room for five passengers.
Hybrid System With Impressive Performances
The upcoming 2022 Ford Ranger PHEV will ride on a T6 body-on-frame architecture. This platform can accommodate hybrid setup, and the same platform underpins new Ford Everest. Ford plans to build a hybrid system around 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.
In combination with electric motors and battery pack, this output should deliver around 500 lb-ft of torque and 362 hp. Moreover, Ford will offer a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to that, Ranger PHEV will depart from the 3.0-liter and 2.5-liter PHEV setups in the new Explorer and Escape models. Models in Europe and Australia will get a diesel variant but not in the United States. However, we are still waiting for exact engine specs.
2022 Ford Ranger PHEV Price and Release Date
The 2022 Ford Ranger PHEV will go on sale in the United States at some point in 2021. Most likely, the mid-size pickup truck will arrive in the second half of the year. Moreover, Ranger PHEV will reach the Australian and European markets. The price will start below $40,000, according to the latest reports.
