The forthcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD is bringing numerous updates. As you know, this model recently introduced a redesign, so the latest refreshments surprised us all. GM is constantly improving its heavy-duty lineup in order to stay competitive. As you know, the biggest rivals are Ford and Ram. First spy photos of the Silverado 2500HD model are available.
However, heavy camouflage still perfectly hides some of the exterior parts. We know a couple of things and we also heard a lot of rumors. Interior will surely gain something new, but the performances will remain intact. New model will hit the dealerships later in 2021.
2022 Silverado 2500HD Changes
As we said, first spy shots are available. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD does not look different, but some cosmetic upgrades will happen for sure. A new model should gain a look that is even closer to the light-duty Silverado 1500 pickup. This is a heavy-duty model so it does look more robust, but exterior features are basically the same.
Chevrolet will reportedly deliver new exterior colors and more standard features. The list of upgrades starts with a slightly wider grille. The bumpers are bolder and the side profile could gain a slightly sharper look. Besides that, the rest of the truck will remain intact.
Under the Skin
What we hope to see are further mechanical upgrades. Changes under the skin are equally important, especially for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. This truck still tows less than Ford F-250 or Ram 2500 models. Even if you opt for the diesel engine, torque figures are still lower.
Still, this is a great towing machine, but it still lacks a couple of things to become the best one. Chevrolet will deliver minor upgrades such as improved suspension and possibly new brakes. Besides that, Silverado 2500HD will mechanically remain the same.
Engine Specs, Towing Capacity
As before, this truck will once again offer gasoline and diesel powertrain options. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD comes with a standard 6.6-liter gasoline engine. This V8 output develops 400 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and it can tow up to 15,000 pounds. However, optional diesel is a much better choice.
A 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 generates 445 hp and up to 910 lb-ft of torque. And while the torque figures are great, Ford F-250 and Ram 2500 are still offering more twists. Silverado2500HD can tow up to 36,000 pounds with the best possible configuration. That is around 2,000 pounds than its biggest rivals. Unlike the gasoline variant, the diesel engine comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Release Date, Price
The price of the all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD will once again start at around $34,000. However, we’d recommend you to skip the base trim level. On top of that, choosing an optional diesel engine will cost you even more. Silverado is a unique and nice-looking truck that perfectly reflects its price. The sales will begin at some point this year. Most likely, Chevrolet will launch its new heavy-duty lineup in the last quarter of the year.
