The all-new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado should arrive with significant refreshments. The latest spy shots are showing exactly that. Silverado is slowly losing battle with rivals such as Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. For that reason, drastic changes are a must for this light-duty full-size pickup truck. As we expected, both the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado will introduce almost the same updates.
That includes various visual improvements, such as new tailgate. However, the interior is the segment that should suffer the biggest changes. As for the performance, we think Silverado will continue in the same manner as before. The sales of the 2022 Silverado will begin next summer.
2022 Silverado Spy Shots
A spied prototype of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado is wearing a lot of camouflage. Heavy camo perfectly covers the front fascia, including the front fenders and the hood. Moreover, even the rear part is hidden. Still, it is easy to conclude that the front fascia is brand-new. That means we should expect new layout upfront, including new features. The front part will host a two-tiered lighting setup. The same styling cue can be found on the new Blazer and Silverado HD models.
The new design includes thinner LED accents and new daytime running lights. The cab remains intact and the rear part should get a new BedStep system. More importantly, the new tailgate will be in the offer. It is the same GMC MultiPro tailgate but it will carry the name MultiFlex on the Silverado pickup. This should improve the vehicle’s functionality.
Interior Gets Drastic Changes
A new batch of spy photos failed to provide interior details. However, we know that the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado and the 2022 GMC Sierra will get the same updates. The interior will suffer serious refinements and it will introduce new high-tech amenities. The current generation Silverado has been criticized for its underwhelming cabin.
However, the 2022 Silverado will get a new design, followed by a revised center stack and modified dashboard. Larger displays will become available too, and Chevrolet will deliver more standard amenities. On top of that, the comfort will be improved, along with the safety.
Engine Specs
Under the hood, things should remain for 2022 Chevrolet Silverado. That means the light-duty pickup truck will continue to offer its familiar 5.3-liter V8 gasoline engine. This engine is capable of producing 355 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. However, a larger 6.2-liter engine is optional and it provides more power, up to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of twisting power.
Silverado will also offer a reliable 3.0-liter diesel powertrain as well. The six-cylinder unit will provide a high level of torque and better fuel efficiency. A hybrid powertrain is a rumor at the moment but Silverado truly needs some sort of electrification. Whatsoever, the biggest rivals are already offering hybrid powertrain options.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado Release Date and Price
The forthcoming 2022 Chevrolet Silverado will go on sale next summer. There will be eight trim levels and the base trim will start at around $33,000. It is a small jump in terms of price given the number of upgrades. Chevy will release closer details in the first quarter of 2021.
