At the moment, the electric pickup trucks are a hot topic in the industry. It’s only a matter of time when the first all-electric model will make a debut. Well, right now, the favorites for the first appearance are 2021 Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybretruck. According to the reports from Plymouth-based automaker, the R1T will be ready for about a year from now.
The Rivian company records a fast growth, so it will speed up the development process, in order to meet the scheduled release date of the all-electric truck. Moreover, the carmaker claims that the upcoming R1T will be class-leader in the total driving range. The forthcoming model will offer up to 400 miles in a single charge. Also, the powerful system under the hood will launch the truck form 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds.
The maximum towing capacity will be 11,000, and the company announced that the R1T will include a special off-road performance package as well. As for the appearance, the prominent headlights and the futuristic design are the first things you’ll notice. The starting price is still unknown, but we assume that the Rivian R1T will come with a price higher than $70,000.
2021 Rivian R1T Exterior Design
The forthcoming 2021 Rivian R1T Electric Pickup Truck delivers futuristic design language and a lot of unique exterior details. Definitely, there’s no such vehicle on the market. The front end will have a long strip and headlights, that look like a vertical pill. In between, you’ll notice a strip of LED lamp.
The multifunctional lamp will light green when the truck is charging. Also, the side panels will carry a more traditional pickup look. Furthermore, the backside you’ll find wide lights, same as on the front fascia, while the skid plates will protect the body from hitting. According to the Rivian, the main focus of the cabin is that it will be easy for cleaning and maintenance. Screens, mats, seats, and every other feature will be easy to wipe and keep it as new.
On top of that, R1T offers advanced infotainment and connectivity features. Also, you’ll find a 110 V outlet, that will let the passengers charge any electric device with pickups generator. The controls will be logically arranged, and user-friendy. The driver can access to most of them through a Rivian smartphone app.
The arriving 2021 R1T will provide an outstanding driving range of 400 miles. Under the bonnet will be a 180 kWh battery pack, which will provide a massive output as well. The electric pickup sprints from 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds.
Moreover, the truck chargees up to 80 percent for about 50 minutes, using the quick charging system. Still, if you use the standard outlet, it will take some additional time. For example, the fast charger will refill the battery approximately in two hours. As we mentioned in the introduction paragraph, the towing capacity will be 11,000 pounds.
2021 Rivian R1T Release Date and Price
The starting price of 2021 Rivian R1T will be around $70,000. Well, besides the 180 kWh battery pack version, the Michigan-based company will offer two other more affordable configurations, that will use a smaller powertrain. On the other hand, the range-topping models will probably go over $100K. The release date is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021.
