If you are looking for a good and affordable pickup truck, the 2021 Ram 1500 Classic is the answer. It isn’t the brand-new 2021 model. Instead, Ram offers the so-called “Classic” variant for another year, and it is a fourth-gen model introduced in 2009. This model provides a smooth ride, and comfort is admirable. The interior is quiet, and it looks attractive enough.
An eight-speed transmission is in the offer, but the availability of features is limited. Don’t try to compare the 2021 model with the Classic version. Whatsoever, Ram offers only three trim levels: Tradesman, Express and Warlock. Here’s what you need to know about Ram 1500 Classic pickup.
Ram 1500 Classic Trim Levels
The upcoming 2021 Ram 1500 Classic is available in three trim levels. This is one of the reasons why we said, “try not to compare the Classic model and new 2021 Ram 1500.” This is an affordable pickup that is part of the fourth generation introduced a decade ago. Tradesman is the base trim level. It comes with basic stuff such as vinyl floors and power mirrors with heating option. Moreover, the cabin sports only two USB ports and cloth upholstery is standard. The Express trim is a mid-range variant with body-colored exterior parts. It rides on larger 17-inch wheels, and it offers tinted glass. Lastly, Express trim offers carpeted floors. The range-topping trim is called “Warlock.”
Ram 1500 Classic Warlock offers premium 20-inch black-gloss alloy wheels. Front grille comes with black trims and old-school Ram logo. Rear sliding window, LED fog lights, and a 5-inch touchscreen are offered as standard. Optionally, all trim levels are offering tow package, 8.4-inch touchscreen, unique differential and axle gear ratios. It is important to say that you can get the Classic model in three cab configurations: Regular, Crew Cab and Quad Cab. Moreover, there are three different bed lengths.
No surprises under the hood. The 2021 Ram 1500 Classic is available with two powertrain options. A 3.6-liter V6 is standard, and it generates 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is available, along with the standard rear-wheel-drive setup.
A Four-wheel-drive is optional, just like Ram’s 5.7-liter Hemi V8. The optional powertrain delivers 395 hp and up to 410 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, a diesel engine is not available in Ram 1500 Classic.
Pros and Cons
We already mentioned some good things about the 2021 Ram 1500 Classic. The ride is truly smooth, and the credit goes to Ram’s suspension setup. Comfort is great, the cabin is quiet, and it looks attractive enough. An eight-speed automatic gearbox provides smooth shifting, and it is an efficient unit in every possible way.
On the other hand, the Classic model offers limited trim levels, only three of them. You won’t get the latest driver-assistance aids. Even the list of high-tech features is very incomplete, and that is far from satisfying.
2021 Ram 1500 Classic Price and Release Date
The 2021 Ram 1500 Classic is an affordable model for a reason. It is far from a modern pickup truck, but it still offers old-school stuff such as crosshair grille and other stuff. The price starts at $30,000 for a base Tradesman trim level. On the other hand, Warlock trim as a Quad Cab costs $38,000. It is a relatively affordable offer, and it is a truck worth a look.
