Like most of the manufacturers, Nissan is going all-in with its SUVs and pickup trucks. The 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X is just one of the models that the Japanese manufacturer has to offer. Pro-4X is an off-road variant that rivals Toyota Tacoma TD Pro, Ford Ranger Raptor and Chevy Colorado ZR2. However, Frontier is less popular, in our opinion, without a good reason.
It is a very reliable pickup truck with plenty of quality. Moreover, ride is smooth and Pro-4X version is a great off-roader. Like Frontier, the Pro-4X model will gain same or similar updates. New engine is a possibility, while visual changes and interior updates are imminent. The sales will start in the coming months, by the end of 2020.

2021 Frontier Pro-4X Exterior Changes
According to latest reports, Frontier will get the same updates across complete trim level lineup. That means the 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X will get the same type of updates. The off-road pickup truck will ride on the F-Alpha platform. Thanks to that, this pickup will now get similar mechanical updates as the Nissan Navara model.
This will improve truck’s off-road ability, especially new suspension and new off-road tires. As for the design, Pro-4X looks aggressive and new model will gain subtle visual upgrades. A 16-inch wheels are available once again, but new exterior colors are very possible to happen.

Interior Improvements
The upcoming 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X will feature a couple of interior updates. However, the cabin is similar to the base trim level in terms of design. Of course, Pro-4X variant add unique elements and comfort is slightly better. On top of that, off-road variant comes with additional equipment. That includes latest driver-assistance aids and other safety systems.
Touchscreen is unchanged for 2021, however, sporty seats are providing better feeling and list of standard equipment is longer. Some reports are suggesting interior redesign if the next-gen Frontier arrives in 2021. For now, this is just a rumor.

New V6 Engine Will Boost Performances
New engine is the highlight of the arriving 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. While the base trim level is using a 2.5-liter gasoline with 150 horses, off-road version comes with larger 4.0-liter gasoline. Moreover, this engine delivers poor fuel economy figures so Nissan opted for a new 3.8-liter V6. It is a big upgrade for the Frontier Pro-4X, both in terms of performance and fuel efficiency. Potent V6 is capable of producing 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque.
That is an improvement of 50 horses and 10 lb-ft of twisting power. A nine-speed transmission is available, but Nissan won’t offer manual gearbox from now on. Nissan will offer new Bilstein shocks, instead of Fox. Moreover, four-wheel-drive setup is available, along with new suspension. Electronic rear differential is present for improved handling and smoother ride.
2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X Release Date and Price
Like the base trim level, new 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X is an affordable pickup truck. The off-road version costs around $10,000 above the base trim level that starts at $27,000. It comes in a crew cab setup and it competes against Chevy Colorado ZR2 and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. The sales should start by the end of the year. However, the Coronavirus outbreak could move its launch for the first quarter of 2021.
