The current units don’t meet the EPA requirements for efficiency and emission. Yet, more automakers in this particular class using a diesel drivetrain. Now, the Mazda truck will probably use a 2.3-liter and 3.2-liter mills when the BT-50 appears. But, with updates, these units can deliver more power. The 3.2-liter powertrain will probably be able to produce around 190 hp. Still, that’s not going to be the class-highest output, since the 3.0-liter mill in the Gladiator produces 250 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, Chevrolet Colorado generates 180 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque.
