Blue Oval manufacturer is introducing a new and affordable package for its mid-size Ranger pickup. It is the 2021 Ford Ranger STX that is available for just under $1,000. The STX Special Edition Package is available on the XL models. The idea is to give the customers the add more technology and fancier wheels for a reasonable price.
Overall, XL trim level is far from premium so this is a nice chance to grab something better. Ford realized the gap in the price between trim levels and we think the STX variant is the right move. While this package adds a couple of exterior and interior modifications, performances will remain the same. The sales of the new Ranger will begin in the first quarter of 2021.
2021 Ford Ranger STX Special Edition Package – What Is It?
A new package has been revealed a few days ago. New 2021 Ford Ranger STX can be paired with the XL trim exclusively. In normal circumstances, the XL trim level is pretty spartan. It offers a smaller touchscreen, outdated steel wheels, and plenty of plastic on the inside. Luckily, the STX package will improve those areas. If you are looking for a work truck, you probably don’t need this package.
On the other hand, if you want something more affordable and more modern, STX would be the right choice. Ford says that 75% of Ranger customers are adding some of the available packages. In most cases, buyers are opting for the package that improves the technology inside the cabin.
What Does It Offer?
The upcoming 2021 Ford Ranger STX comes with a unique and fancier 18-inch black-painted wheels. On top of that, it offers an 8-inch infotainment screen. It supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, satellite radio, dual-zone climate control, and silver accents are also in the offer.
Thanks to that, the truck will instantly look better and it will provide a more modern cabin. The base XL trim comes with a 2.3-inch display, manual air condition, and 16-inch steel wheels. Compare it for yourself, the package is affordable in our opinion and it is a must-have.
Engine Lineup Remains
As we said, the new 2021 Ford Ranger STX won’t improve the performance. That means a 2.3-liter turbo-four engine remains and it will deliver 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. We don’t know yet which engines will become available. There are plenty of rumors, including a 2.3-liter powertrain and a 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horses. Some markets will get Ranger with a diesel engine.
More precisely, a 3.0-liter V6 that cranks out 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. A hybrid powertrain is a possibility, but nothing is official yet. Moreover, Ranger mid-size pickup truck will offer different variants such as Raptor, so the engine lineup will be expanded.
2021 Ford Ranger STX Price and Release Date
The upcoming 2021 Ford Ranger STX will cost you an additional $995 atop the price of the XL trim level. That means you can get this affordable version for about $28,000. Of course, you can skip this option and go for the XLT model that starts at over $30,000. Blue Oval will launch a new Ranger in the first quarter of 2021. As before, Ranger will remain a global model which means it will be sold in all parts of the world.
