The all-new 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid is one of the biggest news in the automotive world. However, we are not surprised as this is the next logical step in Ford’s plans. F-150 is the brand’s best-selling model and it is one of the most popular pickups ever. The 2021 F-150 will be the next-gen model. For that reason, you should expect significant changes and upgrades.
A hybrid powertrain is just one of them. However, Blue Oval will deliver completely new styling and the interior will also suffer a lot. As before, Ford will find the competition in well-known rivals such as Chevrolet and Ram.
2021 F-150 Hybrid Exterior Redesign
The upcoming 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid won’t depart from the regular model in terms of design. The only exception is the charging port on the driver’s side upfront. That means both models will get the very same updates. Next-gen F-150 will introduce an exterior redesign. The changes are visible on both ends, especially on the front fascia.
As we already reported, F-150 will wear brand-new headlights and taillights. Even the bumpers are new and are looking very stylish. Blue Oval manufacturer will also introduce new door-mounted wing mirrors. Expect improved aerodynamics and new exterior paints as well.
The interior will also suffer some drastic changes. For a start, the cabin of the new 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid will introduce more luxury. However, real luxury is still only available on the range-topping trim levels. Ford will offer new high-tech features and a new infotainment system. We should expect new upholstery that provides a higher level of comfort, which is great.
The rear entertainment system will become available and the customers will be pleased to see new and larger touchscreen. However, the interior room will largely remain and even the seating layout is unchanged for 2021.
Blue Oval manufacturer will deliver a modular hybrid system. This technology is designed to power the rear wheels and it will use a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid will have an electric motor wedged between the gearbox and the engine. This is the simplest setup you can find in a world of hybrid vehicles. Moreover, it saves money while the performance is the same. However, exact performance figures are yet to be announced.
The same system should power the upcoming Ford Explorer SUV. An electric motor will produce around 44 horsepower. Moreover, a 3.3-liter V6 seems to be the most likely candidate for a hybridization. With that in mind, F-150 Hybrid could generate 320 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque. We are more interested in fuel efficiency and the all-electric driving range. However, Ford is still refusing to provide more precise info.
