Since the introduction of second-generation Colorado in 2015, this pickup suffered minor changes only. However, the 2021 model could introduce a couple of significant updates. The same is with the 2021 Chevy Colorado Z71 pickup. It is a mid-size pickup truck that offers great off-road capability and plenty of optional packages.
The Z71 variant slots below the range-topping ZR2 version. Visually, the new model will gain updated front fascia, and it will also arrive with a new tailgate. This is our first look at this model and its latest visual changes.
2021 Colorado Z71 Facelift
Everyone hoped to see a redesign on the new 2021 Chevy Colorado Z71 model. However, the manufacturer will opt for another mid-cycle refreshment. On the other hand, changes are more major than in the past. Colorado Z71 pickup will arrive in recognizable orange paint, aka “Crush.” This paint is extremely eye-catching, but it won’t be the only color option. Colorado Z71 will arrive with a revised front part.
Whatsoever, the range-topping ZR2 trim will get the same updates. Chevrolet will deliver the same design of the headlights. However, grille looks different, and it wears a silver bar with a black Bowtie badge. Lower fascia comes with a lower bumper that wears black inserts and chrome accents. A corner-mounted fog-lamps are visible at first glance. This pickup will ride on 17-inch aluminum wheels, and the new tailgate is finally available.

According to the latest reports, a new powertrain option is not happening for the 2021 Chevy Colorado Z71. The speculated output is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. The same sources are saying that this unit will replace the current 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. However, if that really happens, only Colorado’s base trim level will get a new powerplant.
As for the Z71 version, it will deploy a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 308 horsepower. Moreover, this engine delivers up to 275 lb-ft of torque. It offers direct fuel management and variable valve timing systems. An eight-speed automatic transmission has been offered as standard.
