Chevrolet plans to improve its pickup truck lineup after Ford, Ram and Toyota are all introducing further upgrades to their trucks. The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is one of the models that will arrive with more significant refreshments. This model comes with a new look that seems to be more aggressive and more modern.
ZR2 is an off-road package, more than an actual trim level. It is a four-door model with a shorter bed and increased ride height. Unlike regular Colorado, the ZR2 version adds various mechanical upgrades and much more. And while Chevy is keeping details for itself, some reports are already writing about the new 2021 Colorado ZR2 pickup truck.
2012 Colorado ZR2 Facelift
New 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is about to get additional cosmetic upgrades. While Chevy will introduce the same or at least similar upgrades to its complete trim level lineup, ZR2 is something different. The off-road pickup will arrive with a more unique design that looks more aggressive. On top of that, the ZR2 version comes with more ground clearance and a wider stance for improved stability. Its grille is wider, and it comes with new inserts.
The bowtie logo is moved to the left side of the front fascia. Larger CHEVROLET lettering is visible upfront, and black emblem is something unique. For example, other trim levels are offering gold emblem, but ZR2 and Z71 variants are an exception. From what we know, Colorado ZR2 will once again offer iconic Sand Dune Metallic exterior color.
Interior Design
Interior details are not available yet. Still, the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will most likely introduce minor cabin updates. The interior is relatively fresh, and it comes with a lot of high-tech amenities. Like every other Colorado pickup, ZR2 offers a practical and roomy cabin. On the other hand, Chevy will provide a new infotainment system and the latest driver-assistance aids.
Comfort is great, and the ZR2 model comes with plenty of standard features. That includes satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Furthermore, a wireless phone charger is available too. Leather upholstery and a premium sound system are optional once again.
Engine Specs
New 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is an off-road package that comes with improved performances. On top of that, it is a pickup truck that provides additional mechanical upgrades. That includes unique Multimatic shocks, two-inch suspension, and electric locking differentials. The same differentials are available on the front and rear sections. A two-speed transfer case is available as well. Under the hood, a 3.6-liter V6 is available, and it generates 305 hp.
On top of that, ZR2 is capable of producing 275 lb-ft of torque. Reliable gasoline V6 offers a direct fuel injection and variable valve timing systems. As for the diesel variant, a 2.8-liter Duramax should become available in some parts of the world. Diesel powertrain cranks out 180 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of twisting power.
2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Price and Release Date
The price of the forthcoming 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will start at around $45,500. This off-road pickup truck will try to rival Ford Raptor and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro models. The sales will begin later this year, most likely in the final quarter of 2020.
